When it seems like there’s a new social media update or change to the algorithm every other day, it can be difficult to keep up with the whirlwind of information—especially when you’re just trying to stay focused on building your business. We hear you. It’s a lot. Wouldn’t it be nice to have it all in one place?

We thought so too. Welcome to The Social Share.

Every week our senior social media strategist, Haleigh Fullilove, will compile all the latest and greatest social media updates from trusted publications and sources that are relevant for entrepreneurs just like you. Come back each week for your social update and stay connected with Haleigh and Teachable at @heyhaleighanne and @teachable on Twitter.

Let’s get into it. This week kicks off with some long-awaited news from Instagram.

A chronological feed on Instagram returns

Yes, you read that correctly. In a big news update from Instagram, users will soon be able to choose if they want their feeds to go back to the “old school” feeds—a.k.a. good old chronological order.

For those who have felt the drag of the algorithm (a.k.a. many of us), this is likely relieving news. Although the feature isn’t releasing until early 2022, and we don’t know exactly how it’ll operate, it’ll be interesting to see how this will once again change the dynamic of the app.

Facebook pushes for deeper community engagement

Social media platforms continue to offer incentives for creators. And we couldn’t be more excited for it. Following suit with other apps, Facebook is including new features like Polls, Featured Links, Badges, and Front Row to make it easier and motivate creators to go live on Facebook more often.

With all of these perks coming your way, does that make you excited to go live more frequently in 2022? Will you be switching to a chronological order on Instagram? We want to hear from you about this and all the other exciting changes happening on social media,
