It’s no secret that short-form video platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts are exploding with engagement. Users love short-form video because they entertain, educate, and inform without requiring them to carve out a ton of time to watch a full-length production. With that being said, creators, if you haven’t taken the time to get into short-form videos to promote your business and services, it should be at the top of your to-do list for 2022

Of course, the first step into winning at short-form video is getting familiar with the tools native in the social media apps you’re looking to take on. However, if you really want to up the ante, you should consider looking outside the social media apps themselves and into some content creator tools that can help you elevate. Ahead, are a few tools that we recommend you add to your arsenal to enhance your short-form video strategy, all while turning followers into customers.

Tools of the trade

Inshot

If there’s one rule that we should all abide by when posting short-form content, it’s to upload in the vertical orientation as intended. Posting horizontal videos can easily ruin the viewer’s experience, leading to them not watch the content you’ve worked so hard to create.

To avoid disrupting the potential of your short-form content, always shoot vertically. If you have content that you’ve already shot and don’t have the time to reshoot in the correct orientation, you can resize using InShot so all of your hard work won’t go to waste.

Zoomerang

If you feel like you just don’t know where to start with a short-form video, there’s an app for that. On top of giving you access to elements such as transitions and effects that you may not find on TikTok or otherwise, Zoomerang is packed with step-by-step tutorials that help you create on-trend short forms videos. It’s super beginner-friendly, so even if you aren’t a pro editor, you’ll get the hang of it.

TrendTok

Content creators from all niches can agree that you tend to gain a wider audience when you tap into what’s trending on Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Youtube Shorts. Considering most short-form videos trends tend to come from TikTok (after all, they pioneered short-form video as we know it), finding what’s trending there and bringing it to other platforms is a good strategy.

Using an app such as TrendTok, you can check what sounds, hashtags, and trends you should jump on. You can even check by what’s trending in specific regions.  In addition to what’s currently trending, the app uses AI to predict what may be trending helping you get ahead of the curve.

Splice

Once you’ve got the hang of the basics, it’s time to move on to the fun stuff like cloning (which has trended on TikTok a few times—hello ever so popular outfit selection videos). Cloning (aka masking) is one of the features that the Splice app may be popular for, but there are many other ways to enhance your short-form video on the app, including swapping out the backgrounds of your videos entirely and, coming soon, auto subtitles.

Canva

If you’re thinking, “Is there anything that you can’t do on Canva?” the probable answer is no. Canva is a popular platform for creators because it makes creating appealing content easy. From stitching together video clips to creating engaging covers and layouts for your short-form videos, you can create videos that educate and entertain within a few clicks. If you have a Canva account (chances are, you do), we recommend checking out some of their Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Short templates to add some pizazz to your uploads.
